RETREAT MINISTRY

RETREAT MINISTRY

St. Helena’s Chapel is located on 22 acres of pristine land overlooking October Mountain and adjoining a natural preserve. For nature enthusiasts this is paradise! Not only are their miles of hiking trails through the woods, but also canoe and kayak access across the street to the Housatonic River/Woods Pond. In 2006, St. Helena’s Chapel dedicated the Meditation Meadow. With numerous prayer stations along the way and benches to provide rest and meditation, the Mediation Meadow offers dog walkers and hikers a relaxing setting in which to feel God’s presence.
A large part of our ministry at St. Helena’s is experiencing God’s creation more fully. In 2007, in an effort to reach out to the community and share the historic Chapel and idealic setting of the Meditation Meadow, St. Helena’s established a Retreat Ministry. Quarterly, St. Helena’s along with other local Episcopal Churches, hosts Seasonal Quiet Days. Using the gifts of local clergy and retreat leaders, St. Helena’s has offered such retreats as “Rest in the Spirit”, “Scripture and Daily Life”, “The Walk to Emmaus” and “Soul Collageing”. The Chef’s Ministry Team consists of several members of St. Helena’s Chapel who have a passion for cooking and a desire to share in hospitality. This ministry team provides meals and refreshments to the various groups that participate in the Retreat Ministry.
If you are planning a retreat, a special event, or have a group that just needs to get away, now is the perfect time to retreat back into nature!
Please contact the church office at 413-637-1483 for more information and suggested donation fees. The Chef’s Ministry Team is also available to help meet your needs.
